No such thing as a 100% diagnosis.

From the age twelve years I have been told I would never carry a child to term. There were days of depression, fears of never having my own children, feeling like an oddity that I didn't menstruate like my friends and all around not feeling like a "real" woman.

Eventually I came to the conclusion that this did not mean that I would never be a mother – there was ALWAYS adoption and that life was just giving me a different path.

Then on November 7th, 2007 I went in for a routine lady visit and everything was going like normal when my doctor asked me to take a urine test to check for an UTI. Didn't seem too out of the ordinary until the doctor came back in and told me that my urine sample showed that I was pregnant.

My little monster.

My little monster.

August 16, 2009 is my son Aiden’s one month birthday. It’s crazy to think about all the things that have happened in the last month. Some scary, some absolutely cute. I've been meaning to put the story of his birth down on paper, but been scared to think about it.

I want something I can show to my son once he’s old enough to start asking questions. I hope this will help others in my situation to not feel ashamed (which I still do) or embarrassed.

We've had a pretty odd beginning. Other women will tell you that it was their tingling breasts, missed period or some odd intuition that they 'just knew' they were pregnant. For me, not taking a dump in four days was a sign that something was up.

One bulk pregnancy test purchase later, I got a sign I didn't need. Two lines, mocking me inside the toilets of McDonalds.
