Thanks to Monroe's Dragonfly for submitting this gorgeous shot to the Offbeat Mama pool!

Marina of Red Heart Photo submitted an amazing photo to the Offbeat Mama flickr pool, and when I saw it I realized HEY WAIT A MINUTE! I posted photos from this mama's wedding a few years back. Turns out this mama is Sarah La Glam, and she's 37 weeks pregnant. I begged Marina for some more photos, and got Sarah's story to share between Marina's amazing shots. Cuz when you're feeling waddly and overburdened in your third trimester, there's nothing like some inspiring maternity glam to brighten your mood… -AMS

Aloha, my name is Sarah and I’m an Offbeat Mama-to-be. Today marked the start of my 37th week of pregnancy and my little bean is officially full term. How rad is that?! Within the next few weeks, my baby girl will be hanging out next to me and no longer inside of me. I can’t think of anything more amazing than that. As I approach the end of my pregnancy and the end of my childless existence, I’ve started to look back at the past 9 months. These 9 months, filled with incredible lows and even more incredible highs and some unexpected twists. Here are some of the unforgettable moments of my pregnancy…

I'm a hyperemesis gravidarum "survivor." I hate using the word survivor, because hyperemesis gravidarum isn't a permanent condition. The physical effects only last as long as you're pregnant. It's more of a painful waiting game.

When I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter, I was elated — and to celebrate, I went out to eat. I got the biggest burger you're ever seen and happily ate the whole thing, thinking this was the sort of decadence my newfound pregnancy can guiltlessly afford me.

I was wrong.

Moments later, the whole thing came up. Everything after that came up as well…for months. I went to the ER once and was told it was just severe morning sickness and it would pass. I spent my first trimester and half of my second lying in the floor puking in a bucket. I could not move. I had to be carried to the bath and washed. Standing was impossible and walking was worse. I was so hungry, but unable to even think of eating. I lost 30lbs with my daughter. Luckily, she was born two weeks early a healthy 7lb 11oz little miracle. I felt as though I'd earned her. I had faced some sort of horrible trial and now was ready to face motherhood.

I eventually joined the Navy, where I met my current husband. He is a wonderful partner and a miraculous father-in-training to my now almost 4 year old daughter. We decided to conceive our second child a few months before he left for Qatar, and with very little time, we did. We were totally ecstatic! We went to our appointments and told our closest friends and relatives, giddy as can be.

Then I hit week 7.

A very special thanks to Rebecca for sharing her amazing maternity photos with us:

She explains, "I had a 2 hour photo shoot done yesterday at my apartment. As soon as the photographer walked in and saw my snakes he was all about taking pictures with them."

One more of Rebecca's photos from Katsoulis Photography after the jump!

Mom & Amara by Wayfaring Photography

I recently miscarried a child that I wanted very, very much. I went to the doctor last Wednesday and the doctor told me she couldn’t find a heartbeat, and the baby looked a little “under-developed.” About three weeks under-developed to be exact. She wanted to do a follow-up to be sure, so right after my appointment with her I went and picked up my husband and went back for another ultrasound. Same result. Two days later, I went in for another appointment. My pregnancy hormones had dropped off the chart, the baby had no heartbeat, and had been nesting in my belly lifeless for about three weeks. Three weeks?! Hello body, any sort of signal would have been nice. I had no signs of miscarriage, problems with the pregnancy, health, nothing. Low and behold, a part of me was literally dying inside and I didn't even know.
