I'm a recent follower and avid reader of Holly Neufeld's craft-tacular family blog, {creat*loves}, and when I saw this DIY Baby Mobile tutorial go up I immediately contacted her about letting us borrow it to share it with you awesome folks!

This tutorial is actually ultra simple and uses just a few inexpensive crafting supplies that you may already have laying around: felt, buttons, embroidery hoops, yarn, needle and thread. And don't stop at flowers… think of spaceship shapes, circles and triangles, bugs and birds, monsters, jungle animals. There are just SO MANY possibilities!

One of my favorite features on OBM is the "pimp my kids room" posts — I'm a big into interior design and kids rooms are some of the coolest decorating spaces.

That's why, when I saw these cool chalkboard wall stickers, I immediately thought they'd be a a fun addition to a child's room.

Apply these over-sized wall stickers to any clean, dry surface; then write on 'em with ordinary chalk. And then a damp cloth wipes it all away for another day.

A+R has a bunch of cool designs in various animal shapes…

And I got curious, so I took my search elsewheres and found a lot of other great chalkboard wall decals to fit all different types of kids…

The illustrious blogger, soon-to-be mama and previously Offbeat Bride-featured Steampunk BrideThe Pregonaut, did an AMAZING job with her little Bot's room and was stoked to share it with us. Bask in the pop art glory awesomeness of these new digs! – Offbeat Shrie

pregonaut_1We’re at 38 weeks and the room is finally complete! Now for the rundown of everything I did!

Anyone who knows me knows I love big bold pop art graphics. You can see just how much I love painting them from my umbrellas over at Nohwear. So I knew that whatever I did for the little bot’s room would be big, bold and fun. But what? At first, yes, I wanted to do a Discworld themed room, but it seemed too old for her. It seems something a 6 or 7 year old could appreciate more than a 2 or 3 year old and I’m thinking we’re going to be here for a while.

so much cute!

so much cute!

Not all of us own homes or want to carve notches into our doorways to chart our kids growth. So, jumping on the vinyl wall cling bandwagon, here is a super cute stick-on growth chart!

Etsy Seller Leen the Graphics Queen has quite a few really cute growth charts that you just stick on a bare wall and peel off when its time to get the security deposit back. I really like this Rocket Ship one, and this Monkey one too.

A quick search on Etsy of "growth chart" yields hundreds of results ranging in price from $ to $$$ so, if butterflies, monkeys or spaceships aren't your kiddo's deal, have a look around and find something fabulous!

barnmobel_frilagda1I'm not really quite sure what this is, but it's called "Screw" and it's for kids, so that's pretty cool.

Personally, I think it looks like something a kid could really get hurt playing with, but it appears that these crazy looking toys are in fact, children's furniture… and also toys.

They were created by Maria Vang, an architect and designer, with the goal of helping children with their motor and logical skills, as well as teach them about math. I like 'em because I like cool looking furniture and bright colors.

Plus it enables me to say this… Now you too can help your kid Screw their way to getting better grades in math!

During the holiday season (and remarkably, months before) we're bombarded with chintzy holiday decoration displays, ever-repeating jewelry commercials and inevitably, gift guides. Poppytalk put together an amazin holiday gift guide for all those little kiddos, Mamas and the relatives and friends who shower them with gifts. Here are a few we REALLY adore:

4114301702_a9d690590f_oPricey, but enormously useful, this Wall Mounted Changing Table is both sleek and practical. The body is made out of bent beech wood and the entire contraption is made out of non-allergenic/non-toxic materials. You can toss the cushion in the washer and wipe the whole thing down with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Put this on your holiday list! It's definitely a gift you'll be thanking them for later.
