There seem to be a cavalcade of cutesy, feminine DIY projects for the baby girls of our funny little world, but what is seriously lacking are some rad projects and ideas for our mud-buggin', bouncing-of-the-walls little boys! Well, this is no longer the case because February is "Celebrate the Boy" month over at Made By Rae.

working from home

thanks to Mar for submitting this to the Offbeat Mama pool!

The illustrious blogger, soon-to-be mama and previously Offbeat Bride-featured Steampunk BrideThe Pregonaut, did an AMAZING job with her little Bot's room and was stoked to share it with us. Bask in the pop art glory awesomeness of these new digs! – Offbeat Shrie

pregonaut_1We’re at 38 weeks and the room is finally complete! Now for the rundown of everything I did!

Anyone who knows me knows I love big bold pop art graphics. You can see just how much I love painting them from my umbrellas over at Nohwear. So I knew that whatever I did for the little bot’s room would be big, bold and fun. But what? At first, yes, I wanted to do a Discworld themed room, but it seemed too old for her. It seems something a 6 or 7 year old could appreciate more than a 2 or 3 year old and I’m thinking we’re going to be here for a while.

screenprinted mixtape cassette onesie by HeatherJeany

screenprinted mixtape cassette onesie by HeatherJeany

As a mixtape maven myself, I would *DIE* to have my little bundle o' love sporting this cute little onesie. They're hand screenprinted on 100% cotton so theyre safe and comfy for your wee babes.

They're available in 3 mo., 6 mo., 9 mo., 12 mo. and even toddler sizes, so you have no excuse not to snatch one of these adorable numbers for the lil one in your life!

HeatherJeany's shop is chock full of hand printed goodies from custom Scrabble-style notecards to odd yet unique limited edition prints, as well as darling baby-wear.

While doin' some baby-wear browsing I also came across this collection of witty little shirts and onesies from WilloToons that were too great not to ignore… I mean come on! How can you resist the "eat. sleep. rock. repeat." onesie?!?

During the holiday season (and remarkably, months before) we're bombarded with chintzy holiday decoration displays, ever-repeating jewelry commercials and inevitably, gift guides. Poppytalk put together an amazin holiday gift guide for all those little kiddos, Mamas and the relatives and friends who shower them with gifts. Here are a few we REALLY adore:

4114301702_a9d690590f_oPricey, but enormously useful, this Wall Mounted Changing Table is both sleek and practical. The body is made out of bent beech wood and the entire contraption is made out of non-allergenic/non-toxic materials. You can toss the cushion in the washer and wipe the whole thing down with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Put this on your holiday list! It's definitely a gift you'll be thanking them for later.

A couple years ago, I profiled Siouxzi (aka anditron) and Alan's steampunk wedding on Offbeat Bride. The story got picked up all over the place, most notably Boing Boing.

This weekend, Boing Boing featured Siouxzi again … this time for her amazing maternity Halloween costume:

Aside from the amazingness of the costume, I highly recommend y'all check in with Siouxzi's blog, The Pregonaut, where she admits to a classic offbeat mama sentiment: "We never thought we'd have a kid. We were wrong."

She's got great posts on the ubiquity of Bob strollers, feeling the baby move despite an anterior placenta, and her Discworld-themed nursery.

I have a sneaking suspicion (or desperate hope?) we'll be seeing more of these two and their padawan on Offbeat Mama. In the meantime, explore The Pregonaut!
