Earthslings is an Etsy shop run by Sam, an unschooling mom of three in Sydney, Australia (and yes, she ships internationally). The shop primarily sells baby pouches suitable from birth to 3 years, but also features reusable menstrual cloths, baby wraps, maternity wrap skirts, and the cutest family doll sets I've ever seen.

  • Those mama and baby dolls *are* adorable!!

  • Adorable, truly. But in that picture with the toddler, is that sling squishing down her breast? 'Cause…ouch!

    • Oh, that's me wearing my 4.5 year old daughter. My breast wasn't squished although it does look kind of like it is in that photo. I just have big saggy boobs so I have the fabric above my bust. Most women carrying a baby on the back would place the sling fabric between their breasts and there is no chance of compression.

      • If you don't mind me asking, how does that pull on your back? I love wearing my son when I can, but it does some nasty things to back and shoulders. (He's probably nearing 30lbs now? I dunno, it's been a while since our last pediatrician visit.)

Also, love the products; those dolls are beautiful! <3

        • Hi Ashley,

Thanks for your interest and the compliment.

I find the key with babywearing is to do it regularly and your fitness increases as baby grows. Sometimes my children would have a growth spurt and I'd really feel the difference but within a week my body had adjusted.

For anybody who has just started babywearing or is increasing the amount of time they are carrying it's best to go gradually, rest frequently and not overdo it.

I find back carry great for a heavier child. In the above photo my daughter weighed around 35lbs. We gave up using the sling shortly after that shot was taken as she was by then a great walker and getting too tall and heavy for me.

  • No sure what this phrase at the bottom "your partner — Earthslings">get" is supposed to be but it looks like there's something wrong with those extra characters after Earthslings and the overall sentence seems like maybe Earthslings is in the wrong place.

  • that mama and baby doll is tooooo cute!

  • Darn, I already have two slings so not in the market anymore. Great looking products though.

  • As soon as i get pregnant (asap i hope!) i will definitely be ordering one of these slings…happy to support a fellow aussie, i prefer to buy local products especially when they are so beautiful! And i have many pregnant friends and friends who are new mamas, i'll be letting them know about your baby products!

    • Thanks freckles. When I was designing the slings I kept our hot Aussie climate in mind and included a range of cooler fabrics and I'm developing a range of swimming pouches for babywearing at the beach or pool which would be just as handy for the shower. I see more and more babies being worn over here which is great to see. Good luck making a baby and thanks for spreading the word about my products.

  • "kawaii"…the Japanese word for "cute"
    the babies are adorable.
