Don't worry, you can still have a real-life baby shower, even if everyone uses SimpleRegistry. Photo by Lacey Dudley.

We know some of you aren't into registries at all, and that's cool. Others of you are ok with spending a couple hours in Target doing the traditional baby registry thing. But honestly? I struggle with the concept of baby registries packed with semi-disposable plastic baby stuff from a big box store, which is why I fully support parents of the digital age opting instead for an online cash registry such as SimpleRegistry. The people behind Simple Registry are the same team that's been running Traveler's Joy, who Offbeat Bride readers may remember. They've been doing this since 2004, so they definitely know a thing or two about the registry biz.

SimpleRegistry is very much like registries that you make in a store, with one noticeable exception — you can add anything you can think of to your registry and assign a cash value to it. Want to send your kid(s) to art lessons? Put it on a registry! Friends and family can chip in for the cost. In fact, SimpleRegistry even allows a group of people to go in together to pay for one item. Families, friends, and interested parties can also simply drop you a cash deposit, which you can withdraw at any time, either as a check or a direct deposit to your bank account).

Another feature unique to SimpleRegistry is the SimpleAdder — a tool you can use to add any item from ANY store online. (Yes, that includes Etsy.) The items are added to your registry, thus removing the extra step to an outside website. Basically, the SimpleAdder keeps everything on your registry page, making things way easier for your less computer-savvy family members.

Still have questions? Check out Simple Registry's FAQ. Accounts are completely free, and take two minutes (or less) to set up.
