When Real Nappies contacted me about doing a review of their Snug Wraps diaper covers, I was a little hesitant. See, I don't change most of the diapers in our house. Andreas does. Can I really pretend to be an expert reviewer when most of the diaper business is outsourced to my husband? But I checked with him to see if he'd be into reporting back about his experiences with Real Nappies, and he agreed.

Thank goodness, cuz it means that y'all have a chance to win some free stuff for yourselves…

We use Seattle's baby diaper service, so our diapering situation is pretty simple. We have the nice cotton diapers that arrive on our doorstep every Friday, and then we have an assortment of diaper covers. (I'll let the folks at Real Nappies tell you why they think cotton diapers are the best.) Thanks to generous friends, we had a lot of different cover styles to try out, but Andreas ultimately settled very firmly on Thirsties. Simple, basic, and effective.

My biggest concern with trying Real Nappies covers was that, unlike Thirsties, the legs of Real Nappies' Snug Wraps don't have gussets. I was worried they'd be leaky, especially overnight. Aafter a week of using the covers non-stop, however, I pleased to say we've only had one leak … one that Andreas sheepishly admitted it was his fault.

"I checked to see if he was wet," he said. "And I had total user error when I refastened the cover."

In fact, I actually like the leg openings of Snug Wraps, because unlike Thirsties which are trimmed in baby-poo-stainable white, Snug Wraps' leg opening are trimmed in the same color as the diaper. Baby poo is waaay less likely to stain a bright red leg opening than a bright white one. (Then again, the lining of Snug Wraps are white, so there IS some opportunity for baby poo stainage.)
